Health

Its All About Posture!

Not maintaining balanced posture can add strain to muscles and put stress on the spine. Over time, the stress of poor posture can change the anatomical characteristics of the spine, supporting muscles, and ligaments, leading to the possibility of constricted blood vessels and nerves. Good posture is vital to good health!

Being aware of good posture is the first step to breaking old poor postural habits and reducing stress and strain on your spine. Join us on Wednesday, August 17 at 7:15 pm at Panera Bread in Rocky River as we discuss the importance of good posture. Please call 440-331-4744 to register for this freed event.

A Holistic Approach to Allergies

Allergy season is here. Sniffling, sneezing, stuffy head, sinus congestion, and headaches are just a short list of the symptoms associated with allergies.  Allergy symptoms occur when the immune system overreacts to something that is harmless to most people, but triggers a reaction in those sensitive to it. This substance is known as an allergen.

The most obvious step is to try to eliminate the allergen.  However, for most people, changing their environment is not an option. So, since you are going to be exposed to the same allergen year after year, there are various ways to prepare your body to deal with it.

Doctor Teaches Medicine as Teamwork

Not everyone who goes into medicine likes or even excels at biology or chemistry. Some have no plans to go into the medical field.  Ironically, these are the students Neil Smith, DO, President of Fairview Hospital, is trying to ignite a spark of interest in to consider a career in medicine.

Healthy Relationships in Modern Times

Since ancient times, people believed that relationships play a very vital role in our lives. One of the main reasons we see relationships declining today is people's clouded outlook. In today's world, people pay more attention outwardly and they have forgotten about one very important being: Themselves. Life can be compared to a pearl white light. To the naked eye, the light looks white, but it is actually made up of seven different colors. Life is the same and relies on the same principle. Life is made up of multiple elements.

Everyone knows someone whose hearing loss is holding them back. They may avoid noisy restaurants, or bluff their way through conversations. You might even catch yourself shortening conversations with them because it’s so hard to communicate.

Remember, you are considered legally dead when brain activity ceases.

Spinal Decompression Therapy: Best Kept Secret for Back Pain

With 60 million Americans afflicted with back pain every year, I am amazed how many people have never heard of Spinal Decompression Therapy. I am not sure as to why it is kept such a secret. Given its success, it is a surprise to me that it is not used more or even offered in more health care settings.

Pain in the back or neck is usually a result of poor joint function, joint irritation, muscle tightness and spasm, and disc-related problems, most of which are caused by compressive forces on the spine.

Baby Boomers will be delighted to learn that senior centers have grown and evolved over the years.  No longer do they provide only socialization opportunities.  A senior center offers services and activities that reflect the experience and interests of its participants.

Unlocking Abundance in Our Lives

We are the product of our environment and the beliefs we carry in our life. Beliefs can be at the genetic level, the core level, the history level, or at the soul level.

Ancient sages and modern scientists believe that things happen to us only because we invite them into our lives, consciously and/or unconsciously.

Different studies have shown that people, who have brought about a synchronization of their mind-body-soul, have lived a more fulfilling life in every aspect.

I am currently offering a free 20-minute ThetaHealing® session on first-come first-serve basis. Only a limited number of sessions are offered. Book your sessions at www.NaturalHealingTrends.com.

Are the Seniors in Your Life Eating Well?

Eating well is important at every age, but health issues and physical limitations can sometimes make it difficult for older adults to get the nutrients they need for a healthy diet.  Did you know that malnutrition and poor nutrition occur in 15% to 50% of our senior population?  The symptoms - weight loss, disorientation, lightheadedness, lethargy, and loss of appetite - are often mistaken for illness or disease.

Many seniors don’t eat as well as they should for a variety of reasons.  Arthritis makes cooking difficult.  Many medications reduce appetite making food unappealing.  One study found that 30% of seniors skip one meal a day, while another revealed that 16% of seniors eat less than 1,000 calories a day.  This is insufficient to maintain adequate nutrition.

As you spend time with your loved one, do you notice that they are not as “sharp” as they use to be? Mild memory loss may occur as we get older. Changes such as not being able to recall a name or details of a recent event are a frustrating but frequent occurrence for most aging adults. The Ride of Your Life

If you or someone you know is having trouble getting in and out of their "favorite" chair, this article is for you! It is time to look into purchasing a "new" favorite chair - a Lift Chair!

A Healthy Holiday Wish!

This time of year is a time when families get together to celebrate the holidays.  As we gather ourselves around the dinner table, the most common discussions are usually about one's health.  Sharing doctor experiences, along with health challenges, becomes a very common practice, unfortunately.

The holidays are a hectic time of the year for many, and we want to make sure that the season is enjoyable for seniors. If you are a senior, the following tips should help you prepare for the holidays so that you can fully enjoy the time you spend with family and friends.
