Summertime Fun for Fairview Park Seniors

A special photo of special people - 30 Fairview Park residents 90 years of age or older.

There have been many opportunities to celebrate summer at the Fairview Park Senior Center. These are a few of our past activities and some of our upcoming events. Join in the fun!

The Funsters Chorus

We kicked off summer in June with the Funsters Choral Concert, “The Fabulous Forties”.  All had a good time and left ready to greet summer with open arms!

The Funsters Choral Group is always looking for new members to join them in song!  Don’t worry if your voice is not perfect, this group celebrates diversity! You do not have to be a Fairview Park resident to join.  Our chorus consists of members from Fairview Park, North Olmsted, Rocky River and Westlake. The Funsters meet at the Fairview Park Senior Center every Tuesday at 10:00 for practice.  They present four concerts annually in spring, summer, fall and at Christmas time.

The next scheduled concert, “Timely Songs”, is on Tuesday, September 15, at 11:00 a.m. Refreshments served following the performance.  All concerts are free and open to the public.  Come join us to see what you’ve been missing.

90+ Luncheon

One of our favorite annual events the 90+ luncheon, honoring residents that are 90 years of age or older.  This year’s celebration was extra special.  On July, 30 residents aged 90 and up were honored, with two residents 100 years old!  The special group was treated to a catered lunch, fine entertainment and recognition from Mayor Eileen Ann Patton.  Following the luncheon, a group picture was taken of our honorees.

Coming up

Our annual volunteer lunch will be held on Wednesday, August 12, to show appreciation to the many volunteers that help the Fairview Park Senior Center thrive.  Each year, more than 50 volunteers are treated to lunch, entertainment and special recognition.

The Annual Summer Picnic will take place on Wednesday, August 26, at 11:30.  This year we are celebrating with a Mexican theme, complete with taco bar and mariachi band.

The Farmers Market Nutrition Program will take place again this year. Each week our seniors are able to purchase freshly grown fruits and vegetables at the Senior Center.  Please call the center to get a complete list of dates for the markets.
