While the Seasons Change, the Arts Remain at Beck Center

Still time to enjoy the outdoors at Beck Center.

As summer unwinds and autumn gets closer, Beck Center continues to provide numerous arts experiences for the whole family. It’s not too late to register for August summer camps, and now is the perfect time to enroll in the fall semester. There are also plenty of exciting events, including Bike for Beck, Super Saturday, the Red Stage Summer Music Series, and the opening of the greatly anticipated 2015-2016 Theater Season.

The final camps of the summer will take place August 17 through August 20. These include the Arts Sampler for ages 7 to 12, and the new Ballet/Contemporary Sampler for ages 12 to 18. The Arts Sampler is perfect for students looking for hands-on activities in dance, music, theater, and the visual arts. The Ballet/Contemporary Sampler allows intermediate to advanced dancers to learn from different guest artists each day. Camps fill up quickly, so register today!

Be sure to keep the fall semester in mind, which begins the week of September 9. The full course catalog may be accessed online at beckcenter.org.

The rescheduled Bike for Beck will take place on Saturday, August 22, from 7 a.m. to noon. The event will kick-off at Beck Center as riders choose between a 12-, 25-, or 60-mile ride through the Cleveland Metroparks. Registration is $40 per rider, which includes a t-shirt, a rider packet, SAG support, and snacks. Riders ages 12 and under are free with paid adult riders, and discounts for groups are available. Upon completing the bicycle tours, riders will return to Beck Center where our popular Super Saturday event will also be taking place.

Super Saturday begins at 9:30 a.m. with free art and music activities from our community partners Faber Castell, the Associate Board, Cleveland Botanical Garden, and Great Northern Mall. Beck Center’s own Big Finish Band will also hit the outdoor Red Stage at 10:30 a.m. Admission to Super Saturday is free for all ages with required parent/adult participation, and tickets must be reserved. Super Saturday is proudly sponsored by the Lakewood Arts Festival, Inc.

The popular Red Stage Summer Music Series continues on Wednesday, August 26, with Hillbilly IDOL from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This free outdoor concert will feature “Town and Country Music” made up of an exciting and catchy roots repertoire. While the music plays, interactive arts experiences will be available, as well as refreshments from Great Lakes Brewing Company and The Sweet Spot on sale (cash only).

Last but not least—subscriptions, flex passes, and individual tickets for the 2015-2016 Theater Season are on sale now!
