Come to Taste of River/Buy River to Solve the “Where Should We Eat (or Shop) Tonight” Dilemma

Do you have difficulty deciding where to eat out in Rocky River and surrounding communities? In the past year, Rocky River alone has seen numerous restaurants open their doors, including Bomba Tacos & Rum and Fresco Mexican Grill & Salsa Bar.

We’re certain that when you join in the FUN at the 11th Annual Taste of River/Buy River you’ll know the restaurants you will want to visit. Is there an easier way to meet the owners/managers and become familiar with food items offered at the local food establishments? We think not!

Here's just a sampling of the restaurants and sponsors participating this year:

  • Bearden's
  • Bomba Tacos & Rum (NEW!)
  • Buffalo Wild Wings
  • Ferris Steakhouse & Tavern
  • Fresco Mexican Grill & Salsa Bar (NEW!)
  • Giant Eagle
  • Lowe's of Rocky River (they’re giving away a grill!)
  • Mitchell Brothers Ice Cream
  • Nature’s Bin
  • Olive Scene
  • Pearl of the Orient
  • River Dog Café
  • Salmon Dave’s Pacific Grille
  • Thai Cravings Café
  • The Woods

"Taste of River is one of my favorite events,” said George Hwang, Owner/Manager of Pearl of the Orient restaurant. “I enjoy seeing old friends as well as meeting new ones while sampling the tastiest food from the best restaurants in and around Rocky River. If you have never been to Taste of River/Buy River, plan to come hungry, mingle with your neighbors and see lots of friendly faces. Don't forget to stop by the Pearl of the Orient booth and say 'Hi'." George will be serving his famous chicken with cashews, crispy egg rolls and refreshing cold Thai sesame noodles. Yum!

In 2014 the event attracted more than 750 people in just three hours. This year's event is shaping up to be the place to be on Saturday, July 11, 2015. As part of the city's River Days, admission to Taste of River/Buy River is FREE. However, you will need to purchase food tickets at the door to sample the wide variety of delicious dishes from the restaurants. Food tickets are $1 each. The number of tickets charged per food item will vary. Your tickets can also be used to purchase beverages. Tickets will be available 30 minutes before the doors open. Stop by the front lobby at Don Umerley Civic Center from 11:30 am to Noon to purchase your tickets in advance! Doors open to the public for tasting at Noon. Best of all, the event is indoors and air conditioned, so it takes place rain or shine!

Once inside, you will be on your way to cool off from the heat, browse the merchandise of Buy River retailers, and solve the dilemma of where to eat when you’re dining out. Best of all, both adults and kids will find something they like on the menu! Last year’s Best Food winner Christian Barnes, chef and owner River Dog Café is returning to challenge this year. “I think the Taste of River/Buy River is important for the city of Rocky River,” said Barnes. “I will be showcasing new items plus our clean label hotdogs for the kids. River is becoming a place to go for good local food. If you like food you should come.”

Lastly, we’d like to thank our event sponsors Giant Eagle and EmbroidMe. Giant Eagle will be serving colorfully decorated cookies and cupcakes from their bakery for one ticket each. We hope to see you on Saturday, July 11!
