Fairview Park Chamber Showcases Local Businesses

Attendees shop and snack at the Business Showcase in 2013.

The Fairview Park community is being offered the chance to discover what its local businesses have to offer, courtesy of the Fairview Park Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber’s annual Business Showcase is taking place Thursday, April 10, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Gemini Center.

The Business Showcase serves to connect our local businesses with each other and with our residents. Free samples, brochures, and goody bags are typical as businesses seek to form mutually beneficial relationships with their peers and with new customers.

I have had the pleasure of watching the Business Showcase, now in its fifth year, grow in size and scale year after year. The 2014 event will feature more than 70 local businesses, the largest number to date, and will represent everything from restaurants to home improvements to financial services and beyond.

The Business Showcase encourages the act of shopping locally, which directly and indirectly benefits the community. Studies have proven that when you buy from a locally owned business, rather than a nationally owned business, significantly more of your money is reinvested in the local economy.

The Business Showcase can help you find a local option for every project or need you may have. Just last year, my husband and I discovered an issue with the roof on our garage about a week before the Business Showcase. When I went to the Business Showcase, I met a fabulous roofer located in our city. We started talking and before I knew it we were signing contracts and the problem was fixed.

I commend the Fairview Park Chamber for their efforts in putting this event together. It is a wonderful opportunity for the residents of Fairview Park, and I encourage all to attend and support our local businesses. The Business Showcase is free to the public.
