AYF Thanks Sunrise Rotary
Several members of the American Youth Foundation at Lakewood High School attended a meeting of the Lakewood Rocky River Sunrise Rotary Club to thank its members for providing scholarships for the Camp Miniwanca Leadership Camp in Michigan each summer. The Foundation and the Camp inspire boys and girls ages 5-18 to discover and develop their personal best, to seek balance in mental, physical, social and spiritual living and to make a positive difference in their communities and in the world.
The camp’s mission is to take participants beyond the traditional camp experience by challenging them to unlock their highest potential and to realize their unique gifts, which can positively affect the world around them. At the meeting, three past participants related what they described as “life changing” experiences at the camp that will help them to be leaders at school and in the community. There will be 20 students from Lakewood High School going to the camp this summer, 12 of which will be going for the first time.
Funding for Leadership Camp scholarships is provided by the annual Sunrise at Sunset Fund Raising Auction whch will be held Friday, May 2, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.,in the Umerley Hall of the Rocky River Civic Center.
