Verve Chamber Players Present Free Concert
The Rocky River Chamber Music Society is delighted to present the exciting new ensemble, Verve Chamber Players, at the third concert of its 55th season on Monday, February 10, at 7:30 p.m. This concert takes place in the superb acoustical environment of the West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church, 20401 Hilliard Boulevard in Rocky River.
This season marks the debut of the Verve Chamber Players, the new resident ensemble at Kent State University. The group combines forces from the Miami String Quartet, Kent State University, and The Cleveland Orchestra. Its repertoire is versatile and the group often presents string quartets, piano quartets, and piano quintets on the same program. The program in Rocky River will be no exception, featuring a piano quartet by Joaquin Turina, a string quartet by Dimitri Shostakovich, and the famous Piano Quintet in F Minor by Johannes Brahms.
The careers of the five members of Verve encompass a wide range of performances and experiences. All serve on the faculty of Kent State University. Pianist Donna Lee holds a doctorate from Peabody Conservatory and has appeared as soloist and collaborative artist in Asia, Europe, and the United States. Violinist Amy Lee has served as Associate Concertmaster of The Cleveland Orchestra since 2008. Violinist Cathy Meng Robinson and cellist Keith Robinson, both founding members of the Miami String Quartet, have performed extensively throughout the world. Violist Yu Jin also performed with the Miami String Quartet and has played in many venues, music festivals, and master classes.
There is no admission charge for this concert. All are welcome! See the Society's website at www.rrcms.org or call 440-333-4296 for more information.
