Join us on June 10 at 6:30 p.m. for “Lucky” as we continue our Indie International Film Fest, featuring selections from the world’s top film festivals. This 2011 drama is about a 10-year-old South African orphan who leaves his Zulu village to make his own life in the city. You are invited to stay for a brief discussion afterword. Sign up for our Summer Reading Program, beginning June 10. To be part of the “Children’s Summer Reading Program,” come in, register and pick up your free summer reading kit to start the summer reading fun. Pre-readers can join in, too, and have friends and family read to them. No reporting is required. Experienced readers may draw a picture, write a summary, or present a brief oral report for every fifth book they read (only five reports total).
All teens in grades 7 through 12 are invited to participate in the “Teen Summer Reading Program.” Sign up at the Reference Desk and receive a free gift. Then start reading (or listening to audiobooks) and fill out a slip for every title you read. Use those slips to enter drawings for awesome weekly prizes. The more you read, the better your chances of winning!
Join the Adult Summer Reading Program by stopping by the Adult Reference Desk to register and receive a free gift. Participants who return to record titles they’ve read are entered in weekly drawings for gift baskets. The more you read the more chances you’ll have to win! “Teen Yoga” on June 11 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., with instructor Melissa Major, will help you start your summer vacation relaxed and focused. Learn basic yoga techniques and poses or just practice your skills in a new setting. Dress comfortably and come ready to bend, breathe, and reenergize. Grades 7 and up. Registration required.

“Adventures Into the Paranormal” will be presented on June 13 at 7:00 p.m. Christine Morris of El Dorado Paranormal Investigations shares some findings and inside knowledge about paranormal occurrences. Find out about the methods and equipment they rely on. Morris also talks about her experience of living in a haunted house for twelve years.

Drop in for “Movie Monday” for students competing grades 3-6 on June 17 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Come in and cool off with a fun summertime movie, complete with refreshing lemonade and popcorn. No registration required.

“Time Travel with Library Resources” on June 19 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Did you know that the library has resources available that will give you information about the past? Learn how to find older newspaper articles, pictures and information through resources at libraries. No registration.
Join us for “Books Inspire the Artist Within!” on June 19 at 7:00 p.m. Read “The Avalon Ladies Scrapbooking Society” by Darien Gee, in anticipation of our next discuss and create program for adults. Craft materials will be provided for the creation of a paper collage. No previous art experience required; all are welcome to discuss the book. No registration.
