Women in IT, Manufacturing and Technology

“Women in Science and Technology” will be the focus of a new speaker series debuting in April at Tri-C in Westlake.

The final lecture, "Women in IT, Manufacturing and Technology" will be presented by Dr. Danielle Budzick (Tri-C Assistant Dean, Learning and Engagement), Amy Hawks Gayton (Fire Alarm Systems, Operations and Service Technician), Standish Stewart (Tri-C Information Technology Services), and Dr. Monique Wilson (Tri-C Dean and Execuvite Director of IT).

The series includes four free Thursday night programs at Tri-C’s Corporate College West, located at 25425 Center Ridge Road in Westlake. The programs will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. in Room 305.

At each presentation, speakers from the College and community will share information and perspectives on women working in the fields of science and technology. Each program will conclude with a question-and-answer session.

Flapper Style: 1920s Fashion

The Fairview Park Branch Library will present Flapper Style: 1920s Fashion on Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the Lower Level Meeting Room.

The Flapper was widely viewed as the epitome of 1920s glamour and decadence. Sara Hume, PhD, Associate Professor and Curator at Kent State University Museum, will explore the social and technological changes leading to radical new fashion styles of the 1920s. Using a PowerPoint presentation, this talk will examine images of fashion pieces on view at Kent State University Museum’s current exhibit Flapper Style: Fashions of the 1920s.
